FAIR Cares, Do You?
Fostering provides a home environment with one-on-one, specialized attention that the animals need in order to regain health, learn to trust people, and thrive. Foster homes are at the heart of our ability to save animals. Without available foster homes we can not rescue animals. There is always a need for more foster homes for both cats and dogs. We place companion animals into foster homes until permanent, loving homes can be found. Is there room in your house for one more?
Fosters Open Their Hearts and Their Homes
It’s really quite simple: take an animal into your home and provide loving care and safety. We also ask that you bring the animal to veterinary appointments and to the adoption centers on weekends. FAIR provides the food, medical care, leashes, bowls, litter boxes, and so on. There is no expense to you.
While one of our animals is living with you, we work to find him a good home. We do this by showing the animal at our adoption centers, and by listing the animal on our Web site and on Petfinder.com.
Who Can Foster?
Fostering is perfect for animal lovers who want to change an animal’s destiny and realize that without their help, these animals face a death sentence at traditional shelters.
Fostering is ideal for:
- Military families, it gives them the opportunity to temporarily provide love and care for an animal while they are based in Tucson.
- College students who miss their own animals back home, but are unable to make a permanent commitment to an animal once their education is complete.
- Winter visitors who wish to make a positive impact on our community during their stay with us.
- As a teaching opportunity for families who strive to provide their children lessons in compassion and responsibility.
- Students under the age of 18 with parental permission and wish to enrich their education by earning community service credits and, badges.
Becoming a Foster
The first step is to complete a Foster Home Application and fax it to us at (520) 203-0201. If you have any questions, you can send us an email at foster@faircares.org or call us at (520) 722-3553. Our Volunteer Coordinator will review FAIR’s expectations with you and arrange for an interview in your home. You will then sign an agreement to follow FAIR’s policies.
